June 1, 2023

In just a few days, the dragons will take over Krakow! Get ready with us for the Dragon Parade

The most famous symbol of Krakow is the dragon (you can read the legend of the Wawel Dragon on our blog :) ). So it should come as no surprise that Krakow has its own dragon parade. Every year at the beginning of June there is a parade prepared by Groteska Theatre This year (2023) it will be the 22nd parade! Each parade has its own unique name and this year it will be WIELKI ODLOT. Dragons will take over Krakow for the whole weekend.

On the 3rd and 4th of June, The Dragon Picnic spreads out on the Vistula Boulevards by the Dragon’s Den. Numerous stands, prize contests, and many attractions will be waiting for the participants.

On Saturday, June 3rd, after sunset (at 10:00 p.m.) in the stretch of the Vistula by Wawel Hill launches, a unique Great Outdoor Show will begin with the use of pyrotechnic effects, surprising light, and laser fixtures, giant water curtains, and beautiful music. The biggest attraction will be the huge flying dragons, animated on barges and ships by the actors of the Groteska Theatre. This year's show will have an environmentally friendly formula as in previous years.

But this is not the end of the attractions. On Sunday, June 4 at noon, over 30 Dragons will walk along Grodzka Street to the market square and there some of them will fight on stage for the title of the Most Beautiful Dragon of the Parade.

Every year, the spectacle gathers many people not only from Krakow, and all over Poland but also from around the world. Are you spending this weekend in Krakow? Will you be in the vicinity of the Wawel Castle? Let's watch Dragons together! It is a great attraction for little and big ones.
