The most beautiful of all - Krakow’s spring is coming!

April 11, 2023

It’s getting sunnier and sunnier each day, and that only means one thing. Spring is here! Here are a few ideas of how you can spend your day while enjoying the beauty of nature.

After a long winter of sitting on your couch and hiding away from the cold, moving your body and getting some activity would benefit both your health but also your overall well-being. So what do you say about getting on a bike and driving along Vistula river boulevard? It is a great way of seeing the city from a completely different perspective! You don’t have to worry about not having your own bike, Krakow has a good collection of bike rental stands all over the city, but mostly in the city center. When it comes to the prices, renting a city bike, even for a day, is quite affordable.

Another great option would be going on a hike! The first place that comes to our minds is definitely Zakrzówek. It is a great spot to take your friends and family and spend the day out in nature. It is an artificial reservoir, which used to be an old limestone quarry. The surroundings are breathtaking and you can even enjoy a view of the city. It is forbidden to swim in the reservoir, but how do you feel about diving? Kraken Diving Center has been running a diving base there since 1999. Underwater attractions lie at a depth of 5-31 meters and include, among others, a Polski Fiat 125p car, a bus, a van, boats, and a former changing room after the swimming pool. Under the water, there is also a granite plaque honoring Karol Wojtyła, who worked in the quarry during World War II. The maximum depth of the lagoon is 32 m but the visibility changes at the end of the summer due to the buildup of sediment.

Last but not least, the beginning of spring is a great time to go on a picnic! All you need is food, a blanket to sit on, and a smile. Krakow has a lot of parks to offer. I think Henryk Jordan Park and Błonia are the way to go. It was established in 1889 as the first public playground in Krakow. It is located close to the city stadium. Another option for a walk we recommend is Krakow's Planty, which stretches along the Old Town.

Which option is for you? Vistula Bike Ride, a hike, out in nature, or maybe a picnic under the sunny sky?
